As a child of the 1980’s, I have fond memories of stepping into my father’s treasured home office, which was hallowed ground in our house. There you could find a host of cameras, pictures, pens, pencils, gadgets and BOOKS. Along the south wall, there stood a tall, wooden bookshelf that lined the entire wall. Hundreds of books were stored there. When my father passed in 2014, I inherited his book collection to add to my home library. A couple of years ago, I noticed that two books had the same library number on the spine – 221. As a person who has paid attention to numbers all my life, I felt it was a message – maybe a warning – maybe just a head’s up. Continue reading to find out what conclusion I’ve arrived at!
The Numerology of 2021
In simple Numerology, the year 2021 reduces to the number ‘5’. But what does 5 represent?? First and foremost, it speaks to change. Astrologically, it coincides with the 5th house – the domicile of the Sun. And although the 5th house is associated with the fixed sign of Leo, every sign of the Zodiac denotes change, as the wheel never stops moving-evolving-becoming.
The 4th house, the home of the Moon, represents form. The child-Sun is formed in the waters of Cancer, the sign the Moon rules. It shapes and forms the gestating child in the warm, amniotic fluid, and then, suddenly, the water breaks to reveal the light that has been concealed.
Has this not been a year of un-veilation?? The number 5 breaks the order of the number 4 so that a new order can be established. Form breaks – maybe creating chaos – to establish order.
The Role of Uranus
On the Zodiac wheel, the Aquarian 11th house opposes the 5th. The former is the domicile of the planet Uranus, which is the instigator of change – the author of sudden disruption – the drum major for freedom. This year, it has formed an exact square with the planet Saturn two times, and there is one more left in December.
What does this mean??
First of all, a square aspect in Astrology is like taking a stick and bending it to 90 degrees. In many cases, this is considered to be a breaking point. Thus, it tests the flexibility and strength of the wood. Ultimately, it measures the endurance of the wood, which is a fitting analogy given that the word ‘tree’ derives from the Indo-European deru, which means ‘truth’.
The contentious energy between Uranus (the awakener) and Saturn (the task master) has added to the volatility of 2021. Whereas an opposition can often be resolved by considering both sides to find a resolution, the square, whether in your birth chart or in the transiting sky, often asks of us, “what are you truly made of?” To take it a step further, it tests our endurance.
To Endure is Divine
Interestingly, the word ‘endurance’ derives from the same root as ‘tree,’ which is deru (truth). The obvious message here is that endurance reveals and is the TRUTH. What is truly within you? What is at the core? What is the essence?
These are questions many of us have pondered this year. And Astrology is perfectly designed to answer them, or at least offer guidance. That’s because it is the language of fire, and at the core of all of us, lives an eternal flame.
We are living in a time of acute change, so where there may seem to be confusion, we are challenged to look to the West side of the chart where the Sun sets. There, we are challenged to display faith that although the Sun is setting, daybreak awaits at the opposing horizon. In the middle of this constantly evolving motion is YOU – the fulcrum point. You are the truth that you seek. To know yourself, is to know the truth. And that is DIVINE!
